Well, it seems that alternate paths easily reduce my puzzles. Here's the last one.

				Wow! Nice puzzle.

I'm going to try it again without the three UR's and a Bug+1.

				| I just couldn't find the key to this one. After three URs, an X-, XY- and XYZ-Wing, I was still stuck. I used my Medusa crutch and it quickly trapped a candidate which finished it off. |

Marty, I almost had your exact sequence but was able to achieve a BUG+1 situation to complete the puzzle. More specifically, I had a

Type 1 UR <24>

Type 3 UR <59>; x-wing <5>

Type 3 UR <78>; x-wing <8>

x-wing <9>

color on <9>; deleted r6c7

xy-wiing <679>; pivot r6c2

xyz-wing <369>; pivot r2c1

BUG+1; r6c6=7

Also, I recall a naked quad somewhere in the sequence.

I would not anticipate the single additional deletion by coloring to have been required but ...........

Ted, the 59 and 78 URs were Type 4 on my grid. I didn't do the coloring and my XY-Wing was on 794. I suppose it's possible I had a BUG and missed it, but I'm not doing it again. The first time I was near the end when I spotted a duplicate number in a house and had to erase everything and start over, something that happens too often and brings out some choice words. |

				After basic basics: | Code: | +----------------------+----------------------+----------------------+

| 123679 279    58     | 79     1678   136789 | 59     259    4      |

+----------------------+----------------------+----------------------+

| 234679 279    123469 | 479    167    14679  | 59     159    8      |

+----------------------+----------------------+----------------------+

| 5      6      7      | 3      4      2      | 1      8      9      |

| 8      1      24     | 6      9      5      | 24     3      7      |

+----------------------+----------------------+----------------------+ | There is a quad in R1. If you go that route, there is then a swordfish on <9> in R248. Eventually, to here: | Code: | +-------------+-------------+-------------+

| 136 2   8   | 7   16  36  | 9   5   4   |

| 69  8   169 | 5   2   19  | 7   4   3   |

| 47  5   14  | 8   3   17  | 6   9   2   |

| 23  79  23  | 49  67  467 | 5   1   8   |

+-------------+-------------+-------------+

| 5   6   7   | 3   4   2   | 1   8   9   |

| 249 3   249 | 1   78  78  | 24  6   5   |

| 8   1   24  | 6   9   5   | 24  3   7   |

+-------------+-------------+-------------+ | There are many chains, or a <24> Type 1 UR, leading to an XYZ-wing, and this BUG+1: | Code: | +-------------+-------------+-------------+

| 13  2   8   | 7   16  36  | 9   5   4   |

| 69  4   36  | 2   5   39  | 8   7   1   |

| 17  79  5   | 49  18  48  | 3   2   6   |

+-------------+-------------+-------------+

| 69  8   16  | 5   2   19  | 7   4   3   |

| 47  5   14  | 8   3   17  | 6   9   2   |

| 23  79  23  | 49  67  467 | 5   1   8   |

+-------------+-------------+-------------+

| 5   6   7   | 3   4   2   | 1   8   9   |

| 24  3   9   | 1   78  78  | 24  6   5   |

| 8   1   24  | 6   9   5   | 24  3   7   |

				| If you apply the 24 UR first, then there is a 9 X-Wing (rather than the Swordfish). After that, the puzzle can be solved with one more step: The 178 XY-Wing in r3 and c5 with the <7> r3c1 transported to r6c2 eliminates <7> from r6c5. |

				| It didn't work for me. I found the easy <24> UR - then the quad in R1 - a powerful x-wing on <9> - then a series of xy-wings <479> <679> <479> again - then an xyz <369>. I must have eradicated the UR's and other solutions cos they're not there - I swear. |
