Step 1: Type 1 UR(24)r15c89 => - 24r5c8
Step 2: (8=2)r8c4 - r2c4 = (2-7)r2c5 = r3c6 - (7=8)r3c3 => - 8r8c3
Code: |
+----------------------+-----------------------+----------------+

Step 3: Kraken Column (8)r168c5
a*(8)r1c5 - (8)r1c2
a(8)r6c5 - r6c3 = r3c3 - (8)r1c2
A(8)r8c5 - (8=2)r8c4 - r2c4 = (2-7)r2c5 = r3c6 - (7=8)r3c3 - (8)r1c2 => - 8r1c2

Really nice Clement. Particularly the Kraken Column which is saying that whichever 8 appears in col 5, r1c2 < > 8. |

Multi steps for me too
First step from Clement's 1st grid <178> XY pivot r2c1 gives -8 r8c3
Leads to
Code: |
+---------------+---------------+-----------+
| 5 138 9 | 6 38 138 | 7 24 24 |
| 17 137 4 | 123 237 5 | 8 9 6 |
| 2 6 78 | 9 4 78 | 5 3 1 |
+---------------+---------------+-----------+
| 3 14 2 | 7 5 16 | 9 46 8 |
| 467 478 5 | 238 9 2368 | 1 2467 24 |
| 167 9 1678 | 128 268 4 | 3 267 5 |
+---------------+---------------+-----------+
| 8 2 3 | 4 1 9 | 6 5 7 |
| 9 5 67 | 28 2678 2678 | 4 1 3 |
| 1467 147 167 | 5 367 367 | 2 8 9 |
+---------------+---------------+-----------+

Play this puzzle at the Daily Sudoku site
Then row 3 skyscrapers on 7 and 8 gives -7 r9c6 and -8 r5c6
Then -3 in r5c6 as then r9c6=6, r4c6=1 gives <28> "triple" in c4
This then reveals a <246> XY pivot r5c9 gives -6 in r4c6 and r5c8 which solves the puzzle |
