Hello all,
Seemed like this puzzle had one of everything. Took me several steps to solve. I am thinking others here might be able to shorten the process. I could not do it, and became impatient trying to. Enjoy, stay healthy and well...

This is a tasty smorgasbord indeed Immp. There didn't seem to be any replies and more than 4,500 views! As you say, with lots of chipping away you can get to a solution or possibly a good one for the big chain although I haven't found one yet. Here’s my three hopper.
Code: | +---------------+----------------+--------------+
| 7 358 135 | 158 9 6 | 4 58 2 |
| 256 2568 4 | 7 3 258 | 568 9 1 |
| 9 2568 15 | 4 125 1258 | 568 7 3 |
+---------------+----------------+--------------+
| 4 7 2 | 9 156 15 | 3 56 8 |
| 56 1 9 | 3 8 4 | 25 256 7 |
| 8 356 35 | 25 256 7 | 1 4 9 |
+---------------+----------------+--------------+
| 25 9 7 | 1258 4 3 | 28 128 6 |
| 3 4 6 | 128 7 128 | 9 128 5 |
| 1 25 8 | 6 25 9 | 7 3 4 |
+---------------+----------------+--------------+ |
After basics.
Then for my first go round
1)There's a loop that shows 2 can't exist at r6c5 plug 2 in and it eliminates itself (2-56)r6c5=5(r6c4)-r6c23=r5c1-r7c1=r9c2-(5=2)r9c5 ==> r6c5<>2 and therefore r6c4 must = 2
Then
2)r7c7 must be 8 because (2=5)r7c1-r9c2-(2=5)r9c5-(5=18)r78c4-(18=5)r1c4-(5=8)r1c8-(8=12)r78c78=(8-2)r7c7
In plain English means that whether you start with 2 or 5 in r7c1, r7c7 is always 8
Basics!! A triple turns up in box 1 so eliminate surplus 5's
3)Simple 15, 12, 25 XY wing at r48c6 and r9c5 that eliminates the 5s at r46c5
A good candidate for fewer steps.
Good puzzle Immp. |

Using Mogulmeister's grid I used the following chain:
5r7c4-(5=2*)r9c5-[(2=5*)r9c2 -r8c46]=r8c8-(2=5|6)r45c8-(5=8*)r1c8-(5*8=3)r1c2-(35*=6)r6c2-(2*6=5)r6c5-(2*5=1)r3c5-(18*=5)r1c4 contradiction (i.e. 5r17c4) => r7c4 <> 5; stte.
(Whew!) |

Very good dongrave.
I ran out of time but sensed that the heat might come from box 8. |

Thanks a lot Mogulmeister! I have more time than I used to (thanks to the pandemic). |

It is perhaps counterintuitive, but I can see some of the more traditional "pencil and paper' solvers being able to do this. You'd maybe need a photocopier/scanner. |

Interesting point Mogulmeister! I only use pencil and paper (and of course an eraser!) A few years ago I used a photocopier/scanner but then I improved my pencil marking system so now it's no longer necessary. One problem with special pencil marks though is that you can't use them in software because they don't provide that kind of flexibility. |
