 # 56 eliminations remain

 |

This puzzles has an unusual UR elimination, that does nothing to advance the solution. _ _

Consider the <49> UR in r29c13. Also, consider the <45> and <459> cells in [r2] and [r9].

 	  | Code: | 	 		   (4a)r2c1                   - (4=5)r2c9 - (a45=9)r2c3

 -plus-

 (4 )r2c1 - r2c3 = (4b)r9c3 - (4=5)r9c5 - (b45=9)r9c1

 *---------------------------------------------------*

 |  1    37   58   | 367  367  4    | 2    9    8    |

 | *4    2   *9    | 7    8    1    | 3    6   @5    |

 |  8    35   6    | 359  39   2    | 1    7    48   |

 |-----------------+----------------+----------------|

 |  68   169  18   | 2    169  5    | 7    4    3    |

 |  57   4    15   | 79   179  3    | 8    2    6    |

 |  2    67   3    | 467  467  8    | 5    1    9    |

 |-----------------+----------------+----------------|

 |  356  56   2    | 1    3    9    | 4    8    7    |

 |  3    8    7    | 34   2    6    | 9    5    1    |

 | *9    1   *4    | 8   @5    7    | 6    3    2    |

 *---------------------------------------------------*

 ("a" and "b" indicate network/memory used.)

 |

So, r2c1<>4 follows. |

				| I am usually quite hesitant to contribute since I usually screw something up; but in honor of continuing Marty's "more steps is good enough" philosophy, Peter's penchant for XY Chains, & my need to say something every 6 months or so, I offer the following alternate path. Simple coloring eliminates 7 from r6c4. Then an XY chain 34-46-67-73 eliminates 3 from r1c4; followed by another XY chain 35-56-67-73 eliminates 3 from r1c5. Finally an XY Wing 359 eliminates 5 from r7c2. |

				dejsmith,

Welcome back for your semi-annual contribution. Considering my solver's solution to this puzzle, your solution looks good to me.

Regards, Danny |
